近日台灣 Metoo 性騷擾事件頻傳,這讓我想起兩年前公司曾發佈公告,禁用兩組歧視性文字 ─ master/slave and blacklist/whitelist,因為這兩組文字涉及性別與種族歧視,因此公司將所有文件、網站資料把這兩組文字內容予以替換修正。這兩組文字被棄用後,取而代之的是更具包容性的術語,像是 master/slave 由 primary/secondary or controller/ director/follower 取代,blacklist/whitelist 由 blocklist/allowlist 取代。

Master/slave and blacklist/whitelist – are being deprecated in favor of more inclusive terminology. A cross-company project team has created and actioned a comprehensive plan to find and replace instances of these terms across our instrument software, learning products, and other internal and external collateral and web-based resources.
公司在性別平等與種族多元方面做得很好,因此連續五年被認證為理想 DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) 工作場所。
